C3 RESEARCH FOCUS:
The C3 aims to improve and enhance the predictions about climate change outcomes by providing the mechanistic understanding of the behaviour of the biotic (principally plant and algal communities) component of land and ocean. We will achieve this by:

•  integrating knowledge about how natural landscapes and oceans function biologically with climate studies of land and oceanic surface interactions.
•  focussing on regional scales such as coastlines, estuaries and forest ecosystems.

We like to say that  this targeted approach will  "put the biological flesh on the numerical bones of existing models",making them more realistic and giving greater confidence in the predictions based on them.
