Kleindiek Micromanipulators

Micromanipulators mounted in SEM stage

The MAU has two Kleindiek Micromanipulators that can be mounted in either the FEI Quanta 200 SEM or the Zeiss Supra 55VP SEM. The manipulators can move along three different axes; X, Y and Z and have a resolution of movement in Z of 0.5 nm. The range of movement in X and Y is 240° while the total travel possible in Z is 12 mm. The ends of the manipulators can be fitted with a range of accessories, standard probes, microgrippers or microinjectors. The probes can be used to make electrical measurements inside the microscope chamber and can be attached to light fibres to excite and measure light emission from specific nanostructures in conjunction with a PL and/or CL system.
