Sample Preparation and Processing

The Kent polishing and lapping unit is equipped with a range of cast iron and Kemet polishing plates and is used with diamond pastes to polish down to a quarter of a micron. Colloidal silica for ultra-fine polishing is also available.

Buehler Isomet low speed diamond saw is available to section samples to produce a surface ready for polishing.

Laurell WS-400A-6NPP Lite spin coater which is used to produce PMMA resists for use in the electron lithography system. Maximum spinning speed of 8000 rpm, can have 20 programs of 51 steps each stored in non-volatile memory.
