Dimensions and structure

The School of Chemistry and Forensic Science comprises two broad areas of learning and research, which are applied chemistry and forensic science.

We offer a number of Bachelor’s degree programs and research-based Honours degree programs that are available only to suitably qualified Bachelor's degree graduates.

The Bachelor’s degree programs are led by Dr John Kalman, Program Director for Applied Chemistry and Professor Claude Roux, Program Director for Forensic Science. The PhD and Master's programs by research from the School are carried out by academics and managed by its Head of School.

We have a well-developed research culture, and is proud of our history in teaching and research in applied and innovative science. Research degrees focus on applied and practical chemistry and forensic research to bring about benefits to the community and industry.

The School collaborates closely with industry and the government, such as the Australian Federal Police, defence and quarantine agencies through UTS Centre for Forensic Science which is a formal UTS research strength.

Large proportions of the researchers in the Centre for Forensic Science are academics from the School of Chemistry and Forensic Science.
