Chemistry bridging
Chemistry Bridging Course is designed to assist students that have little or no background in chemistry. It does not attempt to cover all of HSC Chemistry rather it focuses on the foundations necessary for tertiary study.
This is a student-friendly course which assumes no previous knowledge whatsoever. It is not intensive and does not replace HSC Chemistry.
Who should attend?
You are likely to benefit from this course if:
- You are a school leaver who have completed Year 12 studies and have not completed Chemistry
- You are a mature-age or returning student following an extended period of absence and you are planning to pursue any University course which includes some first year Chemistry.
At UTS, courses with chemistry content include physical, biological, medical sciences, engineering, nursing and traditional Chinese medicine.
For first-year chemistry subjects, it is strongly recommended that students have either performed well in HSC chemistry (ie Band 5 or 6) or have some other suitable prior knowledge. UTS Bridging Chemistry is a bridging course designed to prepare students without such prior knowledge for the study of chemistry at tertiary level. The course includes lectures and demonstrations, tutorial and problem-solving sessions, self-paced learning and laboratory experiences.
When, Where and Cost?
This course is divided into TWO parts - Chemistry part 1 and part 2. Our recommendations for students intending to study science or engineering, and who are without any former training should complete both parts. For students who are intending to study nursing or traditional Chinese medicine, Chemistry part 1 may satisfied their need.
This course runs for two weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Fees: A$160 for each part or a discounted rate of A$300 for both parts
