Bachelor graduates whether from UTS Science or other universities can add value to their degree with an additional one-year Honours degree.
An honours year equips students with improved prospects for careers in industries within their chosen field. Not only does it provide an advanced level knowledge base and experience, it also provides evidence that students can plan and organise their work, find solutions to problems, are capable of working independently and can communicate ideas and results in written and oral form.
For students wishing to pursue a career in science research, an honours degree is the benchmark pre-requisite for enrolling in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Honours students typically take responsibility for a major research project in collaboration with an academic supervisor. The project offers the opportunity and excitement of sharing in and contributing to the discovery of new knowledge or of better solutions to old problems.
