Mathematics Bridging Courses

UTS Mathematics Bridging Courses are aim to develop mathematical skills for tertiary study and to help students to become familiar with the academic language of mathematics.

Who Should Attend?
You are likely to benefit from these courses if,

  • you are a school leaver and have just completed Year 12 studies and have not completed the recommended level of mathematics
  • you are a mature-age or returning student following an extended period of absence
  • you are planning to pursue any University course which includes some mathematics


For Mathematics 2 Unit

  • Business students
  • Biological Sciences students
  • Architecture and building students


For Mathematics Extension 1

  • Engineering students
  • Physical Sciences students
  • Mathematics students
  • Computing & IT students

Tertiary studies in the following areas assume prior mathematical knowledge:

  • Business = Mathematics (2 Unit)
  • Engineering = Mathematics Extension 1
  • Biological Sciences = Mathematics (2 Unit)
  • Physical Sciences = Mathematics Extension 1
  • Mathematics = Mathematics Extension 1
  • IT = Mathematics Extension 1
  • Building and Architecture = Mathematics (2 Unit)
  • Mathematics for Education
  • Mathematics for Nursing

When and where?
Maths 2 Unit
This course runs for two weeks, Tuesdays to Fridays, 3 hours daily either in morning or evening sessions.
Tuesday, 3 to Friday, 13 Feb 2009, from 10am to 1pm OR 5.30pm to 8.30pm
UTS City Campus, Broadway

Maths Ext 1
This course runs for two weeks, Tuesdays to Fridays, 3 hours daily either in afternoon or evening sessions.
Tuesday, 5 to Friday, 15 Feb 2009, from 2pm to 5pm OR 5.30pm to 8.30pm
UTS City Campus, Broadway

Maths for Nursing & Midwifery
This course covers an intro to the metric system, basic algebra and drug calculations. It runs from
Monday, 16 to Thursday, 19 Feb 2009, from 6pm to 9pm
UTS City Campus, Broadway

Maths for Education
This course runs from Monday to Friday
Monday, 16 to Friday, 20 Feb 2009, from 9am to 1pm
UTS Kuring-Gai Campus, Lindfield

How much does it cost?

Course fees are as follow:

  • Maths 2 Unit - $300
  • Maths Ext 1 - $300
  • Maths for Nursing - $200
  • Maths for Education - $200

All Maths Bridging courses are FREE to UTS undergraduate enrolled students.

Registration Prior to the start of your Bridging courses:
We need to complete your registration by marking off your attendance prior to the start of your first class. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your first class to Level 16, Building 1, UTS City Campus, Broadway.
