Mission and vision

The School of the Environment's mission is to undertake teaching and research that provide insight and understanding into the interactions between different forms of life. These insights allow us to understand natural changes in the environment and monitor and predict the impacts of the current phase of climate change, particularly on Australian ecosystems.

Our vision

To be a coordinated strategically-orientated group that contributes to develop environmentally sustainable responses to climate change in Australia, through:

• Practice-based training of work-ready graduates in environmental science
• Integrated and focussed research programs
• Strong engagement with industry and community

Graduates are outstanding scientific and environmental professionals who are highly valued and actively sought by employers. We ensure this by providing students and researchers with access to state-of-the art, world-class facilities required for learning and research, and are taught and supervised by practising world-recognised experts.
