Access and security

Never give your PIN code to anyone.

Students get your PIN code: http://pinaccess.uts.edu.au/spa/myspin

New or additional access

To apply for new or additional access, supervisor or manager of applicant are to email Russell.Trenerry@uts.edu.au. Applicant cannot email directly.

Email must include:

  • full name
  • staff/student number
  • specific location

 

Access problems

If you experience problems with existing access, applicant can email directly Russell.Trenerry@uts.edu.au.

Timeframe for access requests

  • Keys: 3 days to 2 Weeks (depending on availability of keys)
  • Keybox: 3 days to 1 Week
  • Keypad: 3 days to 2 weeks (depending on volume of requests and status of UTS system)

After hours access to building 4

After hours access to building 4 is via level 1 Harris and Thomas St corner entrances only (outside gym).

There is no after-hours access via the old main Harris St entrance (outside University Hall), level 2 Alumni Green entrance or level 3 overpass sliding door.

Note: Access is not available to undergraduate students after hours (via pin access).

Security guard

If you are having trouble accessing your office or a keypad you may contact security ext 1192 (95151192) to gain immediate access. The security guard will request an explanation and will ask to see your student or staff card to verify your identity and access rights.

If you do not have a valid UTS student or staff card, they will not let you in.

Staff cards can be obtained at the library in Haymarket.

Student cards can be obtained from any student centre.

Keypad

To operate keypad:

  1. press start button (far bottom left of keypad). Numbers will appear in red in random order on keypad face.
  2. Enter your 7 digit pin code and then press # (bottom right of keypad). Green light indicates access, open door. Red Light indicates no access.

Keybox

Removing keys

To operate keys:

  1. enter first 6 digits of 7 digit pin on keybox keypad (unless otherwise advised). (Mini keybox in tunnel requires you to enter first 6 digits and then press STO). You will then hear an audible buzz as lock disengages. Door of keybox can now be opened. Incorrect or inactive pin codes will reset after 4th digit is entered and not allow access. Once door is open, all keys that you have access to are indicated by a green light.
  2. To remove keys turn attached keybox key 1/4 turn clockwise, withdraw and close keybox door. Keys are only to be removed by the user who has pinned open the keybox.

All keybox keys are to be returned to keybox by end of day. Failure to return keys can result in suspension or removal from security system.

Returning keys

  1. Enter pin and open door of keybox. Keys are only to be returned by the user who has pinned open the keybox door Each keybox key has a number on it that corresponds to numbers in keybox. Key will fit and lock into that slot only.
  2. Insert keybox key in slot and turn 1/4 turn anti clockwise to lock in place. If keybox key is not locked back into place that key can be taken from box while still accountable to you. Make sure key is locked back into place in correct slot. Once keys are returned close keybox door.

Alarm

If keybox alarm is beeping please notify senior technical staff on floor. They can enter their pins and reset alarm by pressing left button under LCD screen.
