Welcome to UTS Mathematical Sciences!
This page is intended to help you get started in your new course.
Enrolment: Details of enrolment sessions for new students are available from the UTS enrolment website. It is very important that you (or your representative) attend your enrolment session in order to enrol in the subjects and the lecture, tutorial and computer laboratory classes that you want — especially if you are seeking subject exemptions in recognition of prior learning (RPL) or have any other administrative queries.
Orientation: Once you've accepted your offer of a place in the course and enrolled in your subjects and classes, you'll want to find out about the facilities and services at UTS, and about the many day-to-day things you'll be dealiing with in the course of your studies. The University orientation program and Faculty of Science orientation program are there to help you do just this ...
Subject guides and textbooks: You'll need to buy these before or at the start of semester. For each subject you're enrolled in you'll be given a subject guide for the semester that gives the organisational details of the subject for that semester - usually this is given in the first class of the subject. The subject guide describes the topics in the subject, assessment, textbooks and so forth. The recommended texbooks are usually available from the University Coop Bookshop early in the new year. You can sometimes pick up second hand textbooks from the Students' Association Second Hand Bookshop. Just check that the right edition is available, as lecture and tutorial material is often keyed to references to particular pages and subjects in the textbook.
