Transition to new and revised course structures from 2008
In 2007, the Faculty of Science conducted an extensive review of its undergraduate courses. As a result there have been a number of changes to the course programs for the Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance, the Bachelor of Mathematics and Computing, and the existing Bachelor of Science in Mathematics courses, and related combined degrees. Also, from next year, the existing Bachelor of Science in Mathematics course will be replaced by two new programs, the Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) program and the Bachelor of Science (Statistics) program, both of which will be offered as separate majors in the new Bachelor of Science course (C10242). Students enrolled in the current Bachelor of Science in Mathematics programs will remain enrolled in these programs and will graduate on completion of their program with the degree in which they originally enrolled.
The course review has also resulted in a number of changes to subject details such as subject names, content, prerequisites and so on. These changes are all reflected in the 2008 Handbook and links to individual subjects may be found here. However, the implementation of any changes to content and prerequisites will be phased in gradually to minimise the impact on current students. For most students these changes will amount to little more than the renaming of a few subjects and so the changes will not be significant. For students whose study plans are affected, transition arrangements have been developed and have been incorporated into individual students' study plans in preparation for re-enrolment for 2008.

Students enrolled in 35102 Mathematics 2 in Spring 2007
The following information will only be of interest to those students who think that they may need to repeat the subject: From 2008, 35102 will have a new name (Introduction to Analysis and Multivariable Calculus) and will be available only in Spring semester and Summer semester - it will NOT be available in Autumn semester 2008.
This means that any student needing to repeat the subject should think about whether to enrol for Summer semester (which starts on Monday 3 December 2007) or whether to wait until Spring semester (which starts on 28 July 2008). In particular, such students should check to make sure that they have all necessary prerequisites for the subjects that they intend to study in 2008.
