Physics courses are structured to provide students with the technical skills and scientific and technological understanding upon which to base a successful lifelong career. Students are taught to be able to adapt to change and to innovate;  these are the key skills needed in a contemporary workplace.

A special feature of the physics courses at UTS is the emphasis on practical skills covering modern instrumentation, facilities for acquisition of data and experimental control, computing, applied optics, and production and analysis of materials.

The Department of Physics and Advanced Materials is located on Levels 11 & 12 of the Tower Building on the UTS Broadway Campus.
