"The effect of Cytokine Polymorphisms on transplant
outcome"
Speaker: Narelle Watson
Abstract: The Influence of gene polymorphisms in key immunoregulatory molecules, such as cytokines, on the clinical course post transplant has become an active area of research since it offers a possible explanation for heterogeneity in outcomes between individuals. A number of studies have examined the influence of cytokine polymorphisms in organ transplantation with varying and often conflicting results. Among the factors that seem to regulate renal transplant outcome is cytokine profile and polymorphisms in a number of cytokines have been associated with the differences in cytokine production. In this study, we have investigated the role of a numbr of cytokine genotypes in renal graft outcomes.
