The Centre of Expertise for Environment (CEE) was established in 2006 and  designed to be the focus of infrastructure management, platform technology development and service provision for environmental research within the Faculty of Science at UTS. The CEE will also become a networking hub, training facility for environmental research and help attract to UTS Science, investment, people and partnerships with non-university organisations.  The CEE will draw on the expertise of UTS Science faculty and students and in particular environmental researchers to help public and private sector organizations solve environmental challenges.

The aim of CEE is:

to create, under the UTS Sustainability brand, a leading role for UTS Science in the delivery of science, technology and services for the sustainable management of natural resources in Australia and overseas.

Current services include:

• Rapid biodiversity assessment

• Environmental monitoring, evaluation and reporting

• Analysis of nutrients, soils and sediments

• Contract research to solve a range of environmental challenges

As a faculty within a technology University, UTS Science has built a reputation for research that helps to solve real world problems. 

In the complex and trans-disciplinary arena of environmental issues UTS Science has a strong nucleus of environmental researchers with skills, capacity and reputation to deliver world class environmental technology and service solutions. 

UTS Science has core environmental research expertise in

UTS Science also has a newly refurbished set of environmental laboratories in a prime location next to the Sydney CBD.  This exceptional space provides an excellent opportunity for rapid growth in capacity and output from laboratory based research.
