The Faculty of Science is renowned for its sound tradition of providing quality teaching, research and consultancy, and graduates of the Faculty are celebrated for their adaptability and work readiness.
Experts in the Faculty engage in a wide range of research activities in the field of physical, chemical, forensic, earth and environmental, medical, biomedical, biological, nano-scale and mathematical sciences, aimed at social and economic benefits to the community. The Faculty alone contributes approximately 40% of the University’s total research activities and much of these research focuses on the activities of the Faculty’s research institutes, centres and units.
Given the importance and growth enormity of research within the Faculty, it has formed five “Centres of Expertise” to manage these modern, sophisticated and state-of the art research resources with the aim to provide effective and efficient research resource management.
These Centres of Expertise (CoE) are service providers, where they interact with both internal and external users. CoE facilitate researchers both 'in-house' and external clients with their expertise to support the progression of research. CoE also interact and collaborate with industry to provide consultancy services, advanced teaching and training courses and also to assist in finding a match between internal expertise and resources to external clients.
